Hi Guys.

I have gone for windows version, I use the FireDTV (www.firedtv.com) for terrestrial (Topup TV :) ),Sky (Sky current subscription :)) and cable (Telewest FreeView only at present ).
I use MediaPortal to control these boxes.

I only got Freeview to work on MCE. Showshifter works as well as Mediaportal but when i tested they only supported one tuner this might have changed.

I had my doubts about firewire but all those fears have been put to rest.
